Dani McGee has been active in the San Diego’s original music scene since the early 1980’s. Initially a solo artist, Dani brought her songs to local stages and street fairs with an acoustic guitar. In the late 80’s, as President of the San Diego Songwriter’s Guild, Dani focused her efforts on providing a forum in which local songwriters could hone songwriting skills and make connections with industry professionals. Meanwhile she formed and joined several bands, including The Symptoms and Lost Girls, and performed at clubs including SOMA, the Bacchanal, Granny’s Paradise Lounge, Megalopolis, Rio’s and The Texas Teahouse.

Bruce Birch is a virtual one man band. At an early age he became interested in the upright bass, next he became adept at guitar. He has dabbled with banjo, flute, mandolin and trumpet. Having explored all of these instruments he has found that his true passion is for drums. Before joining Roget’s Playground, Bruce played in bands whose styles range from Funk to Punk, including Becky’s Market and Toadstool. His bands have played at Velvet, McDuff’s, Ché Cafe, the Spirit and more.

Doug Reese relocated to San Diego from Maryland in the early 1990’s. Doug’s primary musical territory for many years was that of Jazz ensembles, musical theatre and Big Bands. In that forum Doug discovered chord substitutions and learned to value minimalism and textural overlays. One would expect the transition from Big Band to three-piece to be a daunting one, yet Doug’s versatile style easily fills out the sound of this trio. Prior to his move to California, Doug played in several East Coast bands, including Corner Pocket, and toured Maryland, Virginia and D.C.
