Formed in February 1996,
Rogets Playground is a three-piece band
consisting of Dani McGee on Vocals
and Bass, Bruce Birch on Drums,
and Doug Reese on Guitar. The
band delivers musical flavors that are decidedly
varied, with Latin, jazz, and occasional funk grooves
permeating the bands alternative rock
foundation. Strong melodies, well crafted lyrics and
sultry vocals are primary ingredients of their unique
original sound. |

Dani McGee
has been active in the San Diegos original music scene
since the early 1980s. Initially a solo artist, Dani
brought her songs to local stages and street fairs with an
acoustic guitar. In the late 80s, as President of the
San Diego Songwriters Guild, Dani focused her efforts
on providing a forum in which local songwriters could hone
songwriting skills and make connections with industry
professionals. Meanwhile she formed and joined several bands,
including The Symptoms and Lost Girls, and performed at clubs
including SOMA, the Bacchanal, Grannys Paradise Lounge,
Megalopolis, Rios and The Texas Teahouse.
Bruce Birch
is one of those musicians who cant decide which
instrument he likes best. He learned at an early age that
upright bass was, well, just too big, so he picked up the
guitar. Soon he found himself back with the bass but this
time plugged into to 800 watts of power. Recently, Bruce
realized that he needed to release his vast energy reserves
on the drums. Before joining Rogets Playground, Bruce
played in bands whose styles range from Funk to Punk,
including Beckys Market and Toadstool. His bands have
played at Velvet, McDuffs, Ché Cafe, the Spirit and
more.
Doug Reese
relocated to San Diego from Maryland in the early
1990s. Dougs primary musical territory for many
years was that of Jazz ensembles, musical theatre and Big
Bands. In that forum Doug discovered chord substitutions and
learned to value minimalism and textural overlays. One would
expect the transition from Big Band to three-piece to be a
daunting one, yet Dougs versatile style easily fills
out the sound of this trio. Prior to his move to California,
Doug played in several East Coast bands, including Corner
Pocket, and toured Maryland, Virginia and D.C.

Which type file should you download? The
.wav files are native to Windows, while the .aif files are
native to Apple/Mac machines. However, there are applications
available for each platform that can play both types of
files. Because the .wav files are compressed better than the
.aif files, we can put up a higher quality .wav sound file
that is actually smaller than its comparable .aif file. All
this to say if you're using Windows, get the .wav file. If
you're using an Apple/Mac and have an application that can
play .wav files, get the .wav file; otherwise get the .aif
file. If you're using something else, get an application that
can read .wav files or .aif files. If you have any problems
listening to any of these files, let us know.
